Do photographers blog anymore?
Alright, so...does anyone even blog anymore? Seems like most photographers nowadays use blogs purely as an SEO tool with stacks and stacks of photos and random phrases sprinkled here and there that have nothing to do with the photos. Actual musings seem to be reserved Instagram captions. But, since I wrote a humble little fashion blog for, like, five years (back in the day, before "influencer" was even a part of our lexicon), I'm kind of excited to connect with people a little more deeply here. If anyone's even actually reading this LOL. Probably not.
Lots of rain means a beautiful bloom...
Lately I've been seeing so many photographers offering spring mini sessions/mama and mini sessions and since I was in need of some solo photos of myself that weren't over 5 years old, I was super tempted to book one! I used to think it was a little weird to take family photos excluding the dad before I realized how many dads are super grumpy about having to take family photos LOL. Fortunately for me, my husband isn't one of them, but he assured me he didn't mind sitting out on these. I told him it could be my Mother's Day present ;)
Unfortunately the date I wanted with my favorite photographer sold out with a quickness so I decided to save money and ask my husband to be the photographer (he does have over 5 years of experience as my blogger beautographer on his resume after all). Throwing our kids into the mix for the first time and a camera he hasn't used before made it an interesting experience, they both tend to be wildcards and we never know which way it will go, but I am pretty happy with the end result and super happy we decided to do the spring shoot ourselves and also so so so duper happy that I got some great pictures of my son (who is usually in school when I go on scouting adventures with Scout and Emmy so I don't have as many cute pictures of him!) and most importantly, photos that are NOT a selfie and that I AM ACTUALLY IN, dressed all cute with my hair curled and everythang. I'll treasure these precious photographs with my babies forever!
Spring photoshoot in Orange County
We took these snapshots at the Northwest Open Space Preserve in San Juan Capistrano and it was covered in yellow blooms! Spring is such an underrated time to take photos, honestly. Everyone wants their family photos in the fall so they can send out their holiday cards but spring is by far California's most beautiful season! We got a lot of rain this year so I'm hoping to squeeze in a couple more wildflower shoots before the season is over. Holler at me if you're interested!
